Straight back in the groove ‘Better Days’ featuring ROBINS (Angie Robba), the Munich production duo KIDSØ (Moritz Grassinger and Martin Schneider) make their way back to the German capital for their upcoming single ‘Melting’, out on 19 April via Embassy One. Further solidifying their reputation for connecting the dots between electronic music and singer-songwriting, Grassinger and Schneider join forces with Cracovian artist Helaine Vis to deliver a shattering cut of tech house characterised by the exercise of melodic restraint for maximum emotional impact similar to Kiasmos and HVOB.

Staying true to the song’s concept of the past filled with regret we will never outrun, Grassinger and Schneider invest in a dynamic interplay between growling bassline of dotted eighth notes and arpeggiated handclaps matched with sombre brassy lead. This bottom-heavy bedrock in the low end acts as a solid base for Vis to stand on – in particular, her nostalgia-laden lyrics and husky, mature voice:

‘I saw ice in his eyes, now it’s melting

How I didn’t want to make him cry

I saw ice in his eyes, now it’s melting

I wish that I could turn back time’

KIDSØ describes how the collaboration with Vis came about:

“We had known Helaine since our first releases with Springstoff a few years ago, and we had already been in touch for a while, but a collaboration hadn’t happened yet. A while ago we heard her track ‘Ice’, and we were hooked. We both started to create some structures around the vocals and quickly came up with a first draft of the track. We had a lot of fun with the bassline while producing and decided to make it a strong part of the track.”
