Malou Lovis, the winner of The Voice of Germany 2023, made a powerful statement against homophobia and queerphobia with her debut single “Glacier Rivers”, which addressed her coming out as a queer person. Her fans can now look forward to new music, as her second single, the indie-pop ballad “Insecure,” is set to release on June 21.

Malou’s soft yet powerful voice effortlessly blends with the driving arpeggios of the piano in “Insecure.” The song reaches a melodic peak before transitioning to acoustic guitar and epic drum interludes in its second half. The track was crafted in collaboration with Chris Noa and David Jürgens.

“Insecure” lyrically explores the inner conflict of a mid-twenties individual who feels pressured to celebrate life more than they do. At this age, one is often seen as having endless opportunities and being young yet old enough to make significant decisions, each of which feels pivotal. This dilemma forms the crux of the song.

Malou shares, her new song ‘Insecure’ is about those moments when, as a young adult, you feel uncertain. It’s as if you’re supposed to know how to make all the right decisions in your mid-twenties, but often you still feel like a child who just wants to be held.” She was inspired by the romanticization of one’s twenties, stating, “It annoys me when people always say your twenties are the best time of your life and that you should enjoy every moment. There are tough phases at any age – and that’s perfectly okay!”

“Insecure” will be released on June 21, 2024, via Embassy of Music.
