Bringing mystique back to music, ÅNDfØLK – after a Proto-Scandinavian word ‘ånd’ for spirit – is a mystery act whose shared passion for house music, folk tales, and animations led them on a mission to breathe new life into the dance music scene in the UK, Europe, and the rest of the world. With close to 100K followers on Spotify, ÅNDfØLK’s future plans include psychedelic live shows that are a cross between Alice In Wonderland and Day Zero, involving a motley crew of digitalized intergalactic characters, copal rituals and banging tunes to create a live experience that touches all the senses. Their intentions are to introduce them to the world over the next few years.

ÅNDfØLK’s decision to go down the anonymous route was clear from the word go. Their rationale went deeper than mere aesthetics. “What we wanted to do with ÅNDfØLK was to be an act that hopefully would rise through the ranks for no other reason but making incredible music, and our story will be told by the abstract world of digitalised animation we’ll be creating, rather than human aesthetics.”This decision was in marked contrast to their track record – ÅNDfØLK have spent 15-20 years behind the decks and mixing desks, as one might deduce from the Spotify numbers: 3.7 million streams and close to 100K followers combined with a total of 461 playlist placements to with 4.2 million reach. To date, they have put out 10 releases, of which their tech house single ‘Faces’ alone has over 1.7 million streams. And there is clearly a lot more where that came from. Their latest offering, ‘My Favourite Kind’ featuring Deanna Leigh, will drop on 21 July via Caramel Records.
And yet there is no denying that ÅNDfØLK’s accomplishments are a direct outcome of two contrasting personalities fully committed to the creative process.

“It’s that yin and yang thing,” ÅNDfØLK explains. “Our forte lies in melodic composition and a constant desire to be creatively free. Our direction comes from both production and DJ background, in particular in electronic music.”

By introducing the concept of anonymity to their fanbase, ÅNDfØLK has given them a glimpse of the shape of things to come. Whatever parallel universe or alternate reality ÅNDfØLK will lead us into with their lives shows, we can be sure there will be an enchanting world of dance music waiting for us on the other side.
